Fullabrook Wind Farm in Devon is operated by Devon Wind Power Ltd, a subsidiary of ESB International and consists of 22 turbines. It is England’s largest onshore wind farm and ESB Wind Development’s first wind farm construction project in Great Britain. Construction of the 66MW wind farm took place in 2010 and the wind farm has been producing green electricity for export to the grid since autumn 2011.
Each turbine is 65 metres high to the hub with 45 metre blades, making the total height of the turbines 110 metres to the tip of the blade.
NVM Ltd was commissioned to supply and install thermistors in the concrete base and pedestal of each turbine.
Each thermistor was monitored by a datalogger and results were downloaded daily.
NVM Ltd designed a user-friendly plug-and-play system for the client. Results from testing could, therefore, be accessed immediately.
